Friday Night Lights Recap

On September 9th,the Lake Norman High School’s Cross Country team attended Friday Night Lights at Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville. Lake Norman High School was one out of the twenty-seven teams that competed that night.

For the Varsity boys Evan Harris led the way abd finished in seventeenth place with a time 17:06.93. In sixty-fifth place, Cody McCahill finished with a 18:15.00. Behind Cody in sixty-seventh place finished Nick Cresci with a time of 18:16.32, with Mason Dupler behind him in seventieth place made it with a time of 18:18.53. In eighty-ninth place Jacob Ennis with a time of 18:38.58. With a time of 18:58.02 came Michael Reitmeyer in one-twenty-sixth position. In one-hundred-fifty-second position came Wolfgang Obrecht with a time of 19:17.78. At two hundred came Chase Brosel with a time of 20:10.15. And in two-twenty-sixth was Chris Brooks with a time of 21:24.91. This secured Lake Norman’s position in 11th place out of 27.

Kylee Frady was the highest Lake Norman runner who placed twenty-fourth overall , with a time of 20:44.04. Behind her came MJ Shoemaker in twenty-fifth place with a time of 20:45.90. In seventy-second place came Jessica Wynblatt with a time of 21:50.52. After her came Elly Hecker in seventy-fourth with a time of 21:59.50. In ninety-eighth place came Sydney Cook with a time of 22:30.79. Kaleigh Stolberg came in behind her in one-thirty-sixth place with a time of 23:11.40. Behind her was Allie Wilson in one-forty-fourth place with a time of 23:20.96. Diana Jasany ran in one-fifth place with a time of 23:24.82. In one-eighty-second place came Abigail Siegfried with a time 24:14.16. Behind her in one-ninetieth place came Amanda Weber with a time 24:27.79. This secured Lake Norman’s position in 7th out of 26.

Lake Norman Home Meet Recap

On August 23, 2016 Lake Norman High School hosted their very first 5k cross country meet at Stumpy Creek Park in Mooresville. Six high schools came out to the North Piedmont Conference opener; North Lincoln, Alexander Central, West Iredell, South Iredell, North Iredell, and Lake Norman.

Evan Harris, a senior from Lake Norman High School got first place out of 55 Varsity boys from all the schools, his time was 17:17.23. Mason Dupler who was the next fastest Lake Norman runner with an eighth place finish, clocking in at 18:50.95. Cody McCahill, was the next to cross the line in seventeenth place with a time of 19:20.74. Not too far behind Cody was Jacob Ennis with a time of 19:37.30 which secured him with a position of twenty-first. Michael Reitmeyer came in twenty eighth place with a time of 20:08.75. Following him was Brennen Oliver in thirty fourth place with a time of 21:13:79, and only 00:00.20 behind him was Dylan Montgomery in thirty fifth place. And behind them came in Logan Montgomery in thirty ninth place with a time of 22:00.91. In forty eighth place Jacob Thompson came in with a time of 23:46.33, and in forty ninth place behind him was Bryson Barron with a time of 24:13.22. Lake Norman High School Boys Varsity team placed third overall in the team competition; North Lincoln secured first, Alexander Central second, North Iredell brought home fourth, South Iredell fifth, and West Iredell finished up with a sixth place finish.

For the Lake Norman Girls Varsity, Holly Bailey, a senior at Lake Norman, took first place out of all the 49 Varsity girls who ran with a time of 21:04.83. Following behind her was Kylee Frady in third place overall with a time of 21:58.34. MJ (Miranda) Shoemaker in fourth with 22:21.82. Jessica Wynblatt secured seventh place overall with a time of 23:23.04. Not too far behind her was Elly Huecker in ninth place with 23:28.51. Allie Wilson finished thirteenth place with a time of 24:36.94. Sydney Cook, a freshman, finished with a time of 24:53.90 which placed her in the seventeenth place, with Kaleigh Stolberg in twenty third and a time of 26:09.96. Abigail Siegfried finished twenty seventh place with a time of 26:21.16, and in thirty second place ran Diana Jasany with her time of 27:10.83. Lake Norman High School Girls Varsity team took the overall win, followed by North Lincoln, Alexander Central, West Iredell, South Iredell, and North Iredell.

Northwest Cabarrus Cross-Country Carnival Information

Together the boys and girls programs brought home the overall trophy and the Team WIN with a total score of  204 points

The Lake Norman Girls put in a commanding performance by covering the field to take home the First Place trophy with finishes of 1st, 5th, 6th, 8th and 11th overall. Senior Holly Bailey continues to make noise by shattering the course record with her 12:42.7 performance. Holly was followed in by Kylee Fradey, MJ Shoemaker, Elly Huecker and Jessica Wynblatt as scorers for the Lady Wildcats.

Lake Norman Boys took 6th overall with Wolfgang Obrecht leading the Wildcats with a 16th place overall finish and a time of 11:43.6.  Wolfgang was joined by Cody McCahill, Mason Dupler, Nick Cresci and Brennen Oliver as scorers for Lake Norman.

The athletes will be excused early from school on Tuesday, September 6th at 2:40PM. The buses will leave promptly at 3PM with or without you to beat the traffic. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure your teachers know that you are leaving early (before class) and you make it to the buses on time.
The buses will be parked in the very front of the school by the mega units.
